On Friday afternoon the 24th of April, Ava Wohnhas signed a commitment agreement on National Signing Day to enter college. Ava signed with Marietta College. She has been a member of the River Lady’s Basketball team playing from her freshman year through the final year at River. Also, under the longtime coaching leadership of Coach Nick Rice, Ava has grown into a top player on the River Pilots softball team, and as one of the outstanding players in the Ohio Valley.

Coach Rice described Ava’s playing ability, “Ava came to the team four years ago with many of her skills in place. She has always had a very competitive edge. If she feels there is an area she can improve, she works hard to correct that ability. Ava is a skilled player, and an excellent pitcher. But she has one more quality, that is a commitment to teamwork. She plays for herself, but always wants to be there for the other players and the team. Her strongest skill, Positive attitude.”

Ava is going to Marietta College to study health sciences. She explained that she chose Marietta because from the moment she stepped onto the campus, she was welcomed and surrounded by nice people. Her personal goals, grow as a person, player, and team mate.
