By Staff | May 6, 2026

Valley’s Girls traveled to Clay Battelle on Monday evening April 27, for the CBHS track meet and put on a good show against the Cee Bees, Morgantown High, and University High.

The girls 4×200 meter relay team took first place with an impressive time of 1:53.8, setting a school record from a team of Elynn Derby, Kendall Loy, Carley Pittman, and Laken Dawson. The Cee Bees finished second, with Morgantown High coming in third. The win gave Dawson a total of three individual firsts on the night and one team first.

Dawson also won the 100 meter dash in a time of 12.8 to beat out University’s Makenzie Frye. Valley’s Kendall Loy finished sixth in the event with a time of 14.1.

Dawson then turned up the heat to win the 200 meter dash in a blazing time of 26.1, over two seconds in front of University’s Frye who ended second with a time of 28.3. Loy took sixth place with a time of 29.9.

In the 100 meter high hurdles Valley’s Elynn Derby finished fifth with a time of 19.4 and teammate Carley Pittman was seventh with a time of 19.8.

In the long jump Dawson was way in front with a huge leap of 17-9.5 to win her third individual event on the day. Valley’s Carley Pittman finished in third place with a 13-1 jump.

Keep your eyes on this group later this month in Charleston as they compete in the state tournament. They have a good chance to bring home some hardware.
