Mady Winters Named First Team All-State Class AA
When it comes to girls basketball at Magnolia High School, one name stands out above all the rest, Mady Winters.
Winters is no stranger to awards, having been named All-State in three different sports. After missing most of the 2019-20 season with an ACL injury which required surgery and extensive rehabilitation, she came back as a force her senior year.
With just a little over three seasons to her credit she became the all-time leading scorer in Magnolia history with 1,531 career points, while also joining the select 1,000 rebound club.
She also hold the schools single game scoring record of 50 points in a game this season where she scored 50 of the teams 54 total points in the contest.
This year Magnolia moved up from Class A to Class AA, but the move didn’t stop Winters who averaged 28.1 points, 17.8 rebounds, and 4 blocks per game. Those numbers impressed the West Virginia Sports Writers Association enough to name her to the all-state first unit. Mady has committed to playing volleyball next year for Wheeling University. She has been an all-state volleyball selection since her freshman year.
