Annual Cline Stansberry Invitational track meet held in Doddridge County
Magnolia and Tyler Consolidated were among the 11 teams scoring at the annual Cline Stansberry Invitational track meet on Friday, May 14, in Doddridge County.
The Blue Eagles took first place in the 100meter dash with Jason Beisel running an 11.38 good for 10 points as he edged out Tygert Valley’s Caden Boggs who came in with an 11.41. Beisel then took top honors in the 200 meter dash with a 22.98 time good for 10 more points as he beat out Gus Morrison of Ritchie County who was second. Silver Knight Kibby Jackson gave his team two points with a fifth place finish in a time of 24.55. Beisel continued to shine with his third win with a first place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.81 for 10 more points giving him 30 individual points with the triple crown win. Coming in second in the event was teammate Gavin Postlethwait with a 52.94 good for eight team points for the Blue Eagles. Third place went to Tyler’s Austin Timmons with a 53.45 for six points for the Silver Knights. Magnolia got four more points from Gavin Herrick who claimed fourth in the event with a time of 53.77. Tyler Consolidated picked up two points from Sage Landis who ran a 56.07 to get the fifth spot.
In the open 800 meter run Gavin Herrick ran a 2:11.59 for first place to give the Blue Eagles another first place and 10 points. Teammate Trevor Williamson added two points for the Blue with a fifth place finish in a time of 2:14.45. In the 1600 meter run the Blue Eagles settled for a second place as junior Brady Renner crossed the line in a time of 4:49.33 good for eight points.
In the 300 meter low hurdles Tyler Consolidated’s Timmons ran a 43.31 good for fourth place and four Silver Knight points. The Silver Knight boys 4×100 relay team also finished fourth with a team of Sean Winfrey, Trey Landis, Sage Landis and Jackson Kibbey with a time of 48.42 good for four more points. The Blue Eagles managed one more point in the event with a time of 48.65 with a team of Kaden Johnson, Logan Beegle, Damon Shimp, and Allen Collins. Magnolia took fifth in the 4x200meter relay with a team of Beegle, Collins, Shimp and Postlethwait good for two points in a time of 1:40.71. Tyler Consolidated finished sixth in the same event good for one point with a team of Issac Rush, Trey Landis, Winfrey and Kibby in a time of 1:42.01.
Magnolia claimed first place in the 4×400 meter relay good for 10 more Blue Eagle points with a team of Renner, Sam Zombotti, Collins and Besiel in a time of 3:42.16. The Silver Knights of Tyler Consolidated came in fourth with a team of Rush, Timmons, S.Landis and T. Landis, good for four points in a time of 3:49.17. The Blue Eagles of Magnolia claimed their sixth first place finish on the night as they won the 4×800 meter relay with a team of Renner, Zombotti, Williamson and Herrick, with a time of 8:44.71 good for 10 team points. The Blue Eagles shuttle hurdle team grabbed a second place finish for eight more points with a team of Chase Glover, Renner, Beegle and Marcus Barnes with a time of 1:07.08.
In the field events the Silver Knights took first in the High jump with Hadyn Brown clearing the bar at 6-00.00 good for 10 points. Magnolia’s Gavin Postlethwait took third place honors with a jump of 5-06.00 for six points. Joey Dawson took sixth in the shot put with a toss of 38:11.50 good for one point for the Blue.
Ritchie County won the meet with 143 points, Doddridge County finished second with 104, Magnolia came in third with 100 poinrts. Williamstown was next with Tygerts Valley followed by Tyler Consolidated with 33points. Up next was Wood County Christian, South Harrison, Moorefield, Tucker County, and Gilmer County.
