Valley Drops Three; Hammers C-B 14-1
Morgantown Trinity scored 10 early runs and held on for a 12-8 victory over the Valley Lumberjacks April 13 at Tom West Field in Pine Grove.
Ethan Greathouse and Austin Lowe each singled twice, while Dave Moore doubled to lead an eight-hit attack. Abe Satterfield, Caleb Palmer and Tyler Kocher each singled for the Lumberjacks.
From the hill, the Lumberjacks used four pitchers in Satterfield, Greathouse, Moore and Ty Freed with Satterfield taking the loss.
Pilots Sink Lumberjacks, 23-3
The River Pilots scored 15 runs in the third inning, enroute to a 23-3 win over the home Valley Lumberjacks, April 12.
Valley used five different pitchers, with Caleb Palmer starting and striking out two. Palmer paced the ‘Jacks with an RBI double, while Logan Bassett doubled.
In addition, Levi Anderson, Ty Freed, Tyler Kocher and Ethan Greathouse each singled for the Lumberjacks.
No stats were available for the Pilots.
Lumberjacks Crush Cee-Bees, 14-1
The Valley Lumberjacks scored seven runs on two hits, three stolen bases and six walks to power them to a 14-1 mercy-rule victory over Clay-Battelle April 11 at Tom West Stadium at VHS.
The bottom four batters for Valley scored half of the ‘Jacks runs, with Austin Lowe scoring on all three at bats, while Dave Morgan, Logan Bassett, Ty Freed and Ethan Greathouse each touched the plate twice.
Bassett and Lowe, as well as Freed and Greathouse, each scored in the third, with Morgan bringing home one with a bases loaded walk, and Tyler Kocher drilling a bases-loaded double.
Valley added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth with Freed knocking in two with a single and Greathouse one with a double.
Greathouse pitched four innings, giving up pair of singles, while striking out six and walking a pair to gain the nod. Freed gave up two hits, while striking out one and walking two.
Freed paced the Lumberjacks with a double and two singles, while knocking in four runs. Greathouse, Bassett and Kocher each singled and doubled, while Kocher brought home three runs.
In addition, Lowe walked and scored three times, while Morgan was hit all three plate appearances, scoring twice. Abe Satterfield walked and scored, while Levi Anderson was robbed of a base-hit and almost made a diving catch in left field.
Wildcats Walk Away With 11-2 Victory Over Valley
The Valley Lumberjacks walked eight batters in the sixth, using four different pitchers, while giving up three Paden City hits and committing one error to let the ‘Cats walk away with an 11-2 victory April 10 at Paden City Park.
Paden City scored a run in the bottom of the first when Ethan Cross doubled and scored on a Kolton Elliott single to give the hosts a quick 1-0 lead.
The Lumberjacks knotted the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth when Tyler Kocher doubled with two outs and scored on a Peyton Palmer single. The Lumberjacks took their only lead in the top of the fifth, when Abe Satterfield opened with a single and scored on a two-out single by Levi Streets.
However, the upstart Wildcats got the lead back in the bottom half when Matt Saxon reached on a one-out error. After an Ethan Cross single, Trey Slider knocked Saxon in with a base hit. Cross scored the go ahead run on a bases-loaded walk.
Saxon paced the Wildcats with eight strikeouts from the mound and a two RBI double at the plate to get the win for Paden City.
Ethan Cross added a two-run double while Jordan Stackpole plated a pair on two base-hits. Elliott added a two-RBI single, while Slider and Ryan Cross each plated a run on a single.
Kocher paced the Lumberjacks with a double, while Palmer, and Streets added RBI singles. Satterfield and Austin Lowe each singled for Valley.
Satterfield started, stuck out three and walked two took the loss, while Ethan Greathouse pitched an inning, also struck out three and walked two. Kyle Moore, Palmer and Ty Freed combined for six walks, and didn’t strike-out a batter.
