River Cruises to Easy Win over Blue Eagles
Visiting River took down the hard fighting Blue Eagles by 36 points, 76-40 on Friday night in New Martinsville, behind 20 points each from junior guard Kabel Isaly and senior Ty Long. The Pilots opened up a 10 point lead after one quarter 20-10 and never looked back as they won ever quarter to move to 11-2 on the season, while dropping the Blue Eagles to 0-9.
The second eight minutes saw long and Isaly each hit for six points while senior standout Brody Lollathin knocked in a basket to give them a 34-16 halftime lead. Magnolia guard Hayden Pyles has 11 of the Blue Eagles 16 first half points and finished the contest with 19. The Pilots put the game well out of reach in the third frame as they used a 23-11 run to make it a 57-27 score going into the fourth quarter.
River added 19 more in the fourth to the Blue Eagles 11 to get the win. Backing Long and Isaly on the night was Lollathin with nine, Peyton Blue and River Thompson with eight each, Finn Bowers with six, and Kaden Johnson with five.
Magnolia received 11 points from Christen Kingston, six from Brady Kocher, and two each from Carter Clegg and Brayden Vargo. Magnolia hit 12 shots from the floor, including two 3ás and went 14-17 from the free throw line. River had 29 field goals, including four 3-pointers and went 14-22 from the charity stripe.
River Gets Win over Monroe Central
The Pilots just keep on flying as they picked up their 10th win of the season against two defeats, with a 50-28 victory over Monroe Central at Woodsfield on Tuesday night, January 10.
River was in control from the get-go on Tuesday as they jumped in front early and never were threatened. Leading the charge for the Pilots was junior standout Kabel Isaly who knocked in 20 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Backing him in his effort was senior Ty Long who has had a hot hand lately racking up 17 points. Senior Brody Lollathin added eight and gathered in 12 rebounds.
Monroe Central was led by sophomore Tucker Howell who hit for 15 points, including a three ball. He got support from Demchak with six and Kinney with five, both who hit 3ás.
The Pilots canned 17 field goals and went 12-15 from the free throw line, while the Seminoles made 12 shots from the floor and and never got an opportunity at the free throw line.
