Kayden Hunt, a senior at River High School, has established himself as one of the most accomplished student-athletes in the schools’ history. Earning recognition for both his academic excellences and standout baseball career. After years of dedication on and off the field, Hunt will continue his athletic and academic journey at the collegiate level, where he plans to play baseball and study business with a focus on artificial intelligence at Bethany College.

Hunt’s passion for baseball began at the age of three in T-ball at Powhatan and developed into a 16-year journey through multiple travel programs, including the Powhatan River Bandits, OVBC, Wildthings, Swarm, Outlaws, and West Virginia Elite. His commitment to sports ultimately led to a successful four-year varsity career at River High School.

Throughout his high school career, Hunt has earned numerous honors, including All-MOVL First Team, and Eastern District, Division VII, First Team selection. He was also named to the Eastern District All-Star Team, received All-Valley Honorable Mention, and was selected as River High School’s Pitcher of the year. Additionally, he served as an OVAC Varsity Board member and contributed to a sectional championship team.

One of Hunt’s most notable accomplishments is his dominance on the mound. He currently holds River High School strikeout record, with 143 career strikeouts in county competition, and continues to build on that total, recording 124 strike outs so far this season alone. His performance reflects consistency, competitiveness, and continued development as a pitcher.

In the classroom, Hunt has been equally successful, earning Honor Roll recognition each year, receiving an academic letter annually, and being inducted into the National Honor Society, where he also serves as Vice-President. He has been recognized multiple times as Student of the Month and finished at the top of his math class.

Hunt’s combination of academic achievements, leadership, and athletic success has prepared him for the next chapter as a collegiate student-athlete.
