Valley Lumberjills fall to Cameron

Valley traveled to Cameron on Monday night, December 13, to take on one of the top teams in the state, while looking for an upset. However the home team Dragons were more than ready and handed the visitors a 75-40 defeat.

Valley fell behind early 32-7 at the end of the first quarter and the Dragons extended the lead to 71-19 after three quarters of play.

Cameron subbed the rest of the way and the Lumberjills won the fourth frame 21-4, but it was to little to late, despite the visitors getting a big game from sophomore Winter Higgins who was the games top scorer with 23 points.

She received backup support from Andrea Thomas with five markers, Cheyanne Higgins with four points, Harli Rush with three, while Anna Bassett and Evalena Booher each added two points. Kimberly Soles ended the Lumberjills scoring with a free throw.

Cameron received 16 points from VanTassell and 14 each from Clutter and Neely.

The Dragons hit seven 3-pointers on the night and canned 32 field goals, they also went 4-12 from the free throw line. Valley hit just 15 field goals and went 8-9 from the free throw line.

Valley girls fall to Beallsville

The Lumberjills traveled to Beallsville, Ohio on Monday night for their opening game of the 2021-22 basketball season. The homestanding Blue Devils spoiled any thought of a victory for the visitors as they cruised to an easy 56-9 victory.

Top scorer for Valley was sophomore Winter Higgins who hit three field goals to reach six points on the night.

KimberlySoles added a basket for two points and Cheyanne Higgins conected on 1-2 free throws to wrap up the Lunberjills scoring.

Beallsville was led by Jaycee Huffman with 17 points, while Hallie Bommer hit in double figures with 11 and Kaylee Hagan added nine.

The Blue Devils hit six three pointers on the night and went 7-9 from the free throw line.

Valley committed 23 turnovers in the contest and sank just four field goals, while going 1-4 from the free throw line.
