Valley Volleyball opens season on winning note over Bridgeport
Valley opened their 2025 season on Wednesday, August 20, with a big home win in Pine Grove over visiting Bridgeport, Ohio. The Lumberjills took the match in four sets, 25-17, 25-16, 23-25, and 25-19.
Set one saw the Bulldogs take a three point lead midway through the set before the Lumberjills rattled off seven straight for a 19-15 lead and then finished on a 6-2 run to win the set. Set two was more of the same with Bridgeport leading by four 7-3 and Valley coming back strong with three kills and a pair of aces to go in front 8-7 and finish on a 17-8 run to go up 2-0.
In the third set Bridgeport came alive and nipped the home town girls 25-23 scoring the final three points to force set four. Valley rallied right back and wasn’t to be denied as they used strong net play, good defense and superior serving to win the match with a 25-19 decision.
Leading the way for the Lumberjills was sophomore Carley Pittman with a match high 17 points, which included six aces. She also had seven digs, and eight kills. Junior Alanna Hendershot added 15 points including four aces. She also had five kills and six digs. Junior Kynnedi Dallison added 10 points, 15 digs, nine assists, and three kills in an all-around good performance.
