David R. Beckett

David R. Beckett, 85, of Pine Grove, WV, passed away on September 24, 2025 at his home.

He was born September 26, 1939, the son of the late, Encil and Helen Showalter Beckett.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Jane Long, two siblings, Keith Beckett and Susan Allen.

Surviving is his wife, Jane Beckett, a daughter, Dr. Angela McKeen and her husband Dr. Mark Flood, five grandchildren, Ben (Aurora Weigand) McKeen, Anthony (Tessa Staubly) Beckett, Emma McKeen, Annie (Julian Stealey) McKeen, Helena-Adrian Long, a son- in- law Marc Long, a brother-in-law, John Bell. Nieces Cathie (Micah) Sayles, Carrie (Chad) Smith, Nikki (Jon) Loy, as well as several other nieces and nephews.

David was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a 1957 graduate of Pine Grove Hight School. A 1961 graduate of Fairmont State where he was a three-sport athlete playing football and baseball, and he also wrestled. David was also a member of the TKE fraternity. He dedicated his time to teaching for over 30 years and spent several years coaching as well. He was a longtime member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 3:30-7:30pm at Palmer Funeral Home, Pine Grove, WV. There will also be a short visitation on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 10 AM until the time of the funeral liturgy at 11 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father John McDonaugh as celebrant.
