Blake Sentenced to 210 years for sexual crimes

A Wetzel County man, from New Martinsville, was sentenced on Thursday May 20, 2021, by The Honorable David W. Hummel, Jr., Chief and Senior Judge of the Second Judicial Circuit to not less than 52 nor more than 210 years in prison.

John Wesley Blake, 49, was sentenced on three counts of ‘sexual assault in the first degree’ and four counts of ‘gross child neglect creating risk of death or serious bodily injury’ against multiple children in his care, custody and control.

Blake was also fined $12,000.

Blake was given credit for the time served and remanded to begin serving his sentence in the custody of the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

This case was prosecuted by Justin E. Craft, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of Wetzel County, West Virginia, and was investigated by First Sgt. K. G. Murray and Tpr. M. A. Neff of the West Virginia State Police; and, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources-Child Protective Services.

Blake, had been indicted by the September 2020 Wetzel County Grand Jury in a 74 count indictment alleging multiple cases of Gross Child Neglect Creating Risk of Death or Serious Bodily Injury, Incest, Child Abuse Resulting in injury, Child Abuse Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, Sexual Assault In the First Degree, and Sexual Abuse By a Custodian.

All of the crimes were against minor children alleged to have occurred between September 1, 2016 and September 13, 2019, in Wetzel County, WVa.

Other Court cases on Thursday in Wetzel County before Judge Hummel Included the following:

Kevin Ray Morgan appeared in court without an attorney. Judge Hummel appointed Attorney Howard Klatt to represent Morgan on a violation of supervised probation. Prosecutor Haught represented the State. Morgan plead guilty to violating his probation and was remanded to prison for the remainder of his sentence by Judge Hummel with credit for time served.

Devon Alexander Kimble appeared with Attorney David White. Assistant Prosecutor Justin Craft was present for the State. Judge Hummel set a pre-trial date of July 14, and a trial date of September 1, 2021.

Derek Rosenberger with Attorney David White appeared in court on Thursday for a scheduled hearing to se a trial date. Assistant Prosecutor Craft represented the State. Judge Hummel set the date of pre-trial July 14, and trial date of August 9, 2021.

David James Goad failed to appear, and Judge Hummel ordered a capias for his arrest. Attorney Jared Lowe said he was unable to contact Goad. Prosecutor Haught represented the State.

George Herbert Beale appeared in court alongside his Attorney David White to face sharges of soliciting a minor on the computer, and failure to report as a sex offender. Assistant Prosecutor Justin Craft was present for the State. A pre-trial date of July 14, and a trial date of August 30, 2021 was set by Judge Hummel.

Chelsea Dawn Rye appeared in court alongside her attorney Tom White for a hearing to set a trial date. Prosecutor Haught represented the State. Judge Hummel set a pre-trial date of July 14, and a trial date of August 30, 2021.

James Wayne Gray was present alongside his attorney Dean Williams on a firearms charge. Prosecutor Haught was present for the State. Judge Hummel set a pre-trial date of June 14, in Marshall County for a possible plea agreement.

Heidi Jean Shaw represented by Attorney Dean Williams appeared in court on Thursday for a hearing to set a trial date. The State was represented by Prosecuting Attorney Tim Haught. Judge Hummel set a pre-trial date of July 22, and trial date of August 11, 2021.

Steven Starkey recently picked up on a capias warrant,appeared along side his Attorney Jared Lowe for a hearing to set a trial date. Prosecutor Haught appeared on behalf of the State. Judge Hummel set a supervised bond with GPS of $20,000 after a recommendation from Prosecutor Haught. Judge Hummel set a pre-trial date of July 14, and a trial date of September 1, 2021.

Andre Denote Adams – NRJ,172 North Street #2,New Martinsville, WV 26155, DOB: 01/13/1993, charged with Count One– Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) Count Two — Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) Count Three — Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) with Intent to Deliver failed to appear in court on Thursday for a scheduled hearing. A capius warrant was issued for his arrest.

Clay Lindsay Adams – 196 Carnation Lane, Pine Grove, West Virginia 26419, DOB: 07/28/1998 charged by the grand jury with Count One — Driving in an Impaired State Causing Death and Count Two — Negligent Homicide. Appeared in court on Thursday alongside his attorney Jared Lowe and entered a not guilty plea to the charges. He will return to court for apre-trial hearing on July 14.

Norman Francis Adams, Jr., 1613 Morgan Run Road, Burton, WV 26562, DOB: 04/04/1990 charged in an 11 count indictment with Count One — Possession of Stolen Property, Count Two — Burglary, Count Three — Entry of a Building Other Than a Dwelling, Count Four — Entry of a Building Other Than a Dwelling, Count Five — Entry of a Building Other Than a Dwelling, Count Six — Entry of a Building Other Than a Dwelling, Count Seven — Entry of a Building Other Than a Dwelling, Count Eight — Entry of a Building Other Than a Dwelling, Count Nine — Grand Larceny, Count Ten — Fleeing on Foot from an Officer,Count Eleven — Possession of Stolen Property. Appeared in court on Thursday alongside his attorney Brett Ferro. He will return to court on July 14 for a pre-trial hearing.

Andrew Joseph Bassett, 4848 Piney Fork, Pine Grove, WV 26419, DOB: 0312111975 charged with Count One — Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and Count Two — Sexual Abuse by a Custodian. Bassett appeared in court with his attorney David White. He entered a not guilty plea to the charges and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for July 14. Bond was set at $20,000.

David James Bowman, 393 Mods Run Road, Mannington, WV 26582,DOB: 05/12/1994 charged in a One Count Felony Indictment — Fleeing from an Officer with Reckless Intent.

Taylor Dean Dropps,120 Jefferson Street, Paden City, WV 26159, DOB: 04/30/1992, charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) and Driving While License Suspended or Revoked. Bowman appeared in court on Thursday alongside his attorney and entered a not guilty plea to the charges. He will return to court on July 14 for a pre-trial hearing. Dropps appeared in court for arraignment on Thursday alongside his attorney David White. He entered a not guilty plea to the charges and Judge Hummel set bond at $10,000 and scheduled a pre-trial hearing in the matter for July 14.

Penny Ann Floyd, 503 Fallen Timber Road, Smithfield, WV 26437, DOB: 06/2011998 charged with Count One – Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Count Two — Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Count Three — Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine). Appeared in court on Thursday for arraignment. She is scheduled to return to court on June 1.

Charles Matthew Himelrick, P.O. Box 128 Littleton, WV 26581 or 5295 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV 26575, DOB: 02/01/1989.Charged by the grand jury in a One Count Indictment — Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine). Himelrick was in court for arraignment on Thursday alongside his attorney Jared Lowe. He entered a not guilty plea to the charge and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for July 14.

Nathan Scott Himelrick, 9420 Hornet Highway, Littleton, WV 26581, DOB: 07/24/1984, charged in a three count indictment with Count One — Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Count Two — Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Count Three — Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine). He appeared in court Thursday and also entered a not guilty plea to the charges He is scheduled to return to court on July 14, for a pre-trial hearing.

Richard Eugene Himelrick, 5295 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV 26575, DOB: 11/2811953, charged in a One Count Indictment — Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine).

Himelrick appeared in court on Thursday for arraignment on the charges. He was with his attorney Jared Lowe. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and a pre-trial hearing is scheduled for July 14 in the cases.

Zackary Lamar Knight – TVRJ, Homeless,P.O. Box 142,Pine Grove, WV 26149,DOB: 10/29/1998 charged with Count One — Grand Larceny and Count Two — Misdemeanor Transferring Stolen Property. Knight appeared in court on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is sceduled to return to court on July 14 for a pre-trial hearing.

Natasha Nicole Longwell, 714 Park Ave, New Martinsville, WV 26155, DOB: 06/25/1986, charged by the grand jury with three counts. Count One — Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) with Intent to Deliver, Count Two — Possession of a Controlled Narcotic Substance (Heroin) with Intent to Deliver, Count Three — Possession of a Controlled Narcotic Substance (Fentanyl) with Intent to Deliver. Longwell appeared in court onThursday with her attorney Jared Lowe for a, arraignment hearing. She pleaded not guilty to the charges and a pre-trial hearing was set for July 14.

William Cody Loy, 183 Central Street, New Martinsville, WV 26155, charged with a One Count Indictment — Delivery of a Controlled Narcotic Substance (Heroin).

Loy will return to court on July 14 for a pre-trial hearing.

She entered a not guilty plea to the charges. She is scheduled to return to court on July 14 for a pre-trial hearing.

Lawrence Michael Plavi – NRJ, 48 Tropehill Road, Morgantown, WV, DOB: 01/11/1981 charged in a two count indictment. Count One — Burglary, Count Two – Petit Larceny. Plavi was in court alongside his attorney Brett Ferro for arraignment on the charges. He entered not guilty pleas and was ordered to return to court July 14 for a pre-trial hearing.

Paul Joseph Poole, 56 Union Street, New Martinsville, WV 26155, DOB: 02/11/1985 charged with two counts by the grand jury. Count One — Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Counterfeit Substance (Methamphetamine), Count Two — Possession of a Controlled Narcotic Substance (Heroin). He appeared in court Thursday for an arraignment hearing. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and a pre-trial hearing for July 14 was set.

Keri Ann Riley, 503 Fallen Timber Road, Smithfield, WV 26437, DOB: 02/19/1988, charged in a One Count Indictment — Possession of Stolen Property. She appeared in court for arraignment on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to the charge. She made bond and was ordered to return to court on July 14 for a pre-trial hearing.

Niko Anthony San Nicolas, 20 Friendly Hill Road, Friendly, WV 26149, DOB: 05124/1993, has been charged by the grand jury in an eight count indictment. Count One — Conspiracy, Count Two — Grand Larceny, Count Three — Obtaining a Controlled Substance (Alprazolam) by Theft, Count Four — Entry of an Automobile, Count Five — Petit Larceny, Count Six — Entry of an Automobile Count Seven — Petit Larceny, Count Eight — Entry of an Automobile. Nicolas appeared in court on Thursday for arraignment and entered a not guilty plea to the charges. Judge Hummel set his bond at $20,000 and ordered him to return to court on July 14 for a pre-trial hearing.

Timothy Scott Shannon II- NRJ, 350 McEldowney Ave, Paden City, WV 26159, DOB: 04/01/1983, is charged in a One Count Indictment — Possession of a Controlled Narcotic Substance (Heroin) with Intent to Deliver. Appeared in court on Thursday for arraignment. He will return to court on June 1.

AngeIa Shepherd, 335 North Main Street, New Martinsville, WV 26155, DOB: 0812911977, is charged in Counts One through Ten — Child Abuse Causing Bodily Injury. She appeared in court and entered a not guilty plea to the charges. She was ordered to return to court on July 14 for a pre-trial hearing.

Logan Denver Siburt – NRJ, 1605 Fallen Timber Road Smithfield, WV 26437, DOB: 04/18/1996, is charged in a One Count Indictment — Possession of Stolen Property. Siburt appeared in court Thursday for arraignment on the charges. He leaded not guilty and was ordered to return to court July 14 for a pre-trial hearing.

He was in court on Thursday for an arraignment hearing. He entered a plea of not guilty and was ordered to return to court on July 14 for a pre-trial hearing.
