Judge Wilson Holds Court In Wetzel County
Joseph Anthony Lewis, 40, of 101 S. 3rd Ave. Paden City, WV appeared in court on Friday May 1, 2026, alongside his attorney Andy Mendelson for a scheduled hearing to revoke probation. On Friday he admitted guilt to using several violations of probation and was sentenced by Judge Wilson to 1-5 years in prison with credit for time served. His original charge was a one count indictment with the felony offense of Fleeing with reckless indifference. That offense is said to have occurred on or about September 26, 2024 in Wetzel County.
David Lee Butler, 46, of 101 Rose Street, Clarksburg, WV appeared in court on Friday May 1, 2026 alongside his attorney John Jurco for a scheduled hearing to revoke probation. He is charged with testing positive of a controlled substance in violation of probation and having contact with a co-defendant in violation. He was originally charged by the Grand Jury in a two count felony indictment with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with intent to deliver and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance methamphetamine. Those crimes are said to have occurred on or about April 15, 2025 in Wetzel County, WV. On Friday he waived a presentence report and was sentenced to 1-3 years which was suspended and he was given a 60 day sanction and three years supervised probation.
James Christopher Lipscomb, of 365 Virginia Street, New Martinsville, WV, appeared in court on Friday May 1, 2026 alongside his attorney John J Jurco for a scheduled motions hearing. Libscomp was charged in 2025 by the Grand Jury with sex crimes against children. The alleged crimes are said to have occurred between July 1, 2024 and May 27, 2025 in Wetzel County, WV. Friday’s hearing was to discuss the status of the motions.
Carl Henry Haught Jr., 46, of Smithfield, W.Va., appeared in court on Friday May 1, 2026 alongside his attorney Kevin Neiswonger for a scheduled plea agreement hearing. At Friday’s hearing the agreement called for him to get 1-5 years for count one a felony offense of his indictment and 1-5 years for count four a felony offense of his indictment.with alternative sentencing of seven years of home confinement and extended supervised probation for 25 years, plus register as a sex offender for life. He was originally charged by the Grand Jury in a 10-count felony indictment related to alleged sexual crimes against a child. The charges against Haugt included three counts of sexual abuse in the first degree for allegedly touching the minor’s breasts through her clothing with his hands; three counts of sexual abuse by a custodian for allegedly touching the minor’s breasts through her clothing with his hands; one count of display to minor obscene matter for allegedly showing the minor a video of two adults engaged in sexually explicit conduct; one count of sexual abuse in the first degree for allegedly touching the minor’s buttocks through her clothing with his hands; one count of sexual abuse by a custodian for allegedly touching the minor’s buttocks through her clothing with his hands; and one count of soliciting a minor by means other than via a computer for allegedly asking if the minor “wanted to have some fun” after allegedly touching the child’s breasts with his hands. Those alleged crimes occurred during the months of July 2024 and September 2024. A pre-sentence investigation report was ordered by the court, with a sentencing date to follow.
Jeremy Ryan Antrobius, 29, of New Martinsville appeared in court on Friday May 1, 2026, alongside his attorney GAL-T. Graham for a scheduled plea agreement hearing. Wetzel County Assistant Prosecutor Justin Craft was in court representing the State. Antrobius is accused of sexual abuse in the first degree and sexual abuse by a cutodian or person in a position of trust to a child. The crimes allegedly occurred between July 1, 2023, and October 17, 2023, in Wetzel County. On Friday through an Alfred Kennedy plea agreement he admitted to sexual abuse in the first degree. Antrobius waived a pre-sentence report and was sentenced to 1-5 years suspended, and placed on 1-5 years home confinement and given 25 years of supervised probation and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
