Wetzel County Court House Inspection
Kalkreuth Roofing make repairs to the Wetzel County Courthouse
High above Main Street on Thursday morning January 27, 2022, a crew of workers ascended in a bucket lift to inspect the front of the Wetzel County Court House. The two workers braved single digit air temperatures as they worked along a ledge 70 feet up in the cold air. The crew from Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal routinely inspect and make repairs to prevent possible weather damage to the 120 year old building. On this day they were replacing bird repelling devices. These devices prevent birds from landing on the stones ledges and leaving droppings that will deteriorate the stones over time. Each stone in the court houses exterior was hand crafted and place into position by long ago stone masons. It is a testament to their fine workmanship that the building’s exterior is still in excellent condition. The courthouse corner stone was set in 1900. The last stone set was upon completion in 1902.
