Commission Donate to Art Installation Project

The Wetzel County Commissioners met August 3, 2021, at the County Commission Office to discuss agenda items. Commission President Lisa Heasley called the meeting to order following the Pledge of Allegiance. Commissioner Carla McBee joined the meeting via phone.

The minutes from previous special meeting July 28, 2021 on the budget were given unanimous approval by the commission.

Mayor Sandy Hunt along with Arts Teacher Dan Henthorn were present to ask for a donation for more art installations at Bruce Park through the Friends of Wetzel County Group and the Blueprint team. They requested $18,000 for the project and the commission approved the request by a unanimous vote.

Commissioners unanimously approved Sheriff Michael Koontz and Chief Tax Deputy Brenda Scheibelhood of the Sheriff’s settlement for fiscal year 2020-2021.

On behalf of the Refuge Church, Tina Rucker and Kim Eidel were present requesting a donation for the food pantry. The request was tabled by commission for further documentation by the food pantry.

By a unanimous vote, Commissioners approved a revision to the budget in the amount of $6,209.00.

Items to be addressed were the separation of interests in Oil & Gas in the names of George Schupbach, Nina L. Winters, Carol Facci, Linda Wren, and Thelma Schupbach. They were given unanimous approval by commission.

The separation of interests in Surface and Oil & Gas in the names of Naomi Blanche, Burlingame Estate, and Linda L. Roberts & Etal were also approved unanimously by commissioners.

Commission approved the recognition of the First Church of God on their 126th Anniversary.

A $79,807 for WCEAA (EMS) for workers compensation/equipment for fiscal year 2020-2021, was unanimously approved by the commission.

Commission discussed the application to file for a Courthouse Facilities Improvement Grant to repair the front steps at the courthouse. Approval was given to go ahead and apply.

The commissioners approved a $50 per hour rate for Bengy Swanson for acting as Clerk of the works for the new Judicial Annex.
