NM?Parks To Hold Public Meeting

The New Martinsville Parks and Recreation Commission will hold a public meeting at 6 p.m., March 28 at the Lincoln Theater.

  A presentation detailing the future plans for Bruce Park will be discussed. Representatives for Hays Landscape Architecture and Kayafas Architects, as well as members of the Parks Commission, will be conducting the meeting.

The presentation will last approximately 45 minutes with a question/answer session lasting an additional 30 minutes.

Parks Taking Applications

The New Martinsville Parks & Recreation Department is taking applications for summer intern, summer lifeguards, cashiers, supervisors, miniature golf workers, paddle boat attendants, and day camp workers.  Anyone interested needs to pick up an application at the city building between the hours of 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 

Deadline for application submission is April 8 before 4:30 p.m. For more information call 304- 455 – 9130.

Mother Son Bowling

Mothers and their sons aged four and over are invited to join the New Martinsville Parks and Recreation Department for some EXTREME Glow Bowling March 26 at Bruce Bowling Lanes from 6-8 p.m.

In addition to bowling, pizza, and prizes, participants will receive miniature souvenir bowling pins or a souvenir bowling ball.

Bruce Bowling Lanes will provide music and bowling with their Extreme Glow black lights, fog, and spotlight effects. 

The Parks and Rec department will take photos for mothers to have as keepsakes from the event. Prizes will be given out for lowest mother score, highest mother score, lowest son score and highest son score.

Spring Competitive Soccer

The New Martinsville Soccer Club, sponsored by the New Martinsville Parks and Recreation Department, will hold its spring competitive soccer sign ups from now until the season starts. The teams that could be offered, pending participant sign-ups and availability of coaches, are: Under 10 Co-Ed, Under 12 Co-Ed, Under 15 Co-Ed. 

Easter Egg Hunt

New Martinsville Parks and Recreation will be holding its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. April 23 at Lewis Wetzel Park, with help from Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union and Dollar Dog.

The park will be scattered with almost 3,000 Easter Eggs filled with candy goodies. The Easter Bunny and Dollar Dog will be on hand to meet and get pictures with children.
