MHS?Celebrate Night Of Champions

Magnolia High School will be celebrate a Night of Champions March 12 at the school beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Members of the State Championship 1964 Blue Eagle Football Team, along with the 2010 State Championship Football Team, will be on hand. There will be memorabilia from 1964 and 2010 championship teams, along with a presentation of championship rings to the 2010 team. In addition, there will be an unveiling of a banner for the 2010 team. Also on the agenda will be a special presentation for local 1964 team members.

The Wetzel Chronicle will offer a reduced price for remaining copies of Magnolia: A Football History, highlighting the last 100 years of football, with proceeds going to Magnolia football.

WV Hunter Education Course Offered

A West Virginia Hunter Education Course will be held at the Mollohan Center on April 2 and 3 from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. Each student must bring identification. Included in the training will be basic gun safety, information about the different types of firearms and ammunition, archery, wildlife management, shooting, person safety and survival, game care, and hunter responsibility.

Baseball and Softball Signups

The New Martinsville baseball and softball Little League signups will be held at the New Martinsville School Gymnasium on March 5 and March 12 from 9 a.m.-noon on each day. Registration fee is $40 for one child; $60 for two children; and $80 for three or more children per family. For more information, contact Ron Nice at 304-455-5078.

AAU?Tryouts Detailed

The West Virginia Region AAU Basketball Club will be holding tryouts for the following boys/girls age groups: 10u-17u and un-signed seniors.

Hunting Safety

Young Ethical Sportsmen, in cooperation with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Section, will sponsor a Hunter Safety Education Certification course at the Alma Fire Hall, April 16-17. The course will be held Saturday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.

All persons born on or after Jan. 1, 1975, must have completed and passed a Hunter Safety Education Certification Course before obtaining a valid hunting license in West Virginia.

To be certified a person must be 10 years old or older on the day of the test. Persons 12 years old or under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

A Special Youth Card will be issued to eight and nine year olds who complete the course. The course is free but space is limited to class size and pre-registration is a must. Individuals interested in taking this course will need their social security number to register. To register, call 304-758-4374.

Regional Basketball Tickets On Sale

Advanced ticket prices for tonight’s regional basketball game between Magnolia and Ravenswood will be available today from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for students and $7 for adults. All tickets will be $7 at the gate.
