PCHS will host a Meet the Team that will include the Wildcat football, volleyball, cheerleading, and golf teams, as well as the Wildcat Marching Band, at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 26, on Berger Field.

Season passes for fall high school sports are $5 for adults and $3 for students; junior high sports, $4 for adults and $2 for students. Season passes can be purchased at the high school office for $100 adults and $50 for students.

An ice cream social, sponsored by the band patrons, will precede Meet The Team in the multi-purpose room at 6 p.m.

Valley High School and Short Line School will showcase their fall sports programs at a joint Meet the Team event at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at Tom West Field in Pine Grove.

The SLS 2-6 grade junior football team and cheerleaders will appear, as will the high school’s varsity football, volleyball, and cheerleading squads and the Lumberjack Marching Band.

An Ohio Hunter Education Course will be held Sept. 11-12 . The classes are from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday. Lunch will be served on Saturday. The class will be held at the Broken Timber Outdoor Education Center, located at the AGI plant site, Ohio Route 7 in Hannibal. The class size is limited to 23. Please call 1-800-WILDLIFE to register for this class.

Included in the training will be basic gun safety, information about the different types of firearms and ammunition, archery, wildlife management, shooting, person safety and survival, game care, and hunter responsibility. The course is open to the public.

The annual Paden City Labor Day 5K Fun Run will be held on Sept. 6. Registration will be held from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Paden City High School. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Fee for registration is $15 per person and each paid participant will receive a t-shirt.

Trophies will be presented to first and second place male and female participants in different age categories. There is no award category for walkers, but walkers are welcome to participate.

The New Martinsville Soccer Club is holding its Spring Competitive Soccer sign ups.The teams that could be offered, pending participant sign-ups and availability of coaches: Under 10 Co-Ed, Under 12 Co-Ed, Under 15 Co-Ed. Your child’s birth date must fall within the following dates to be eligible for the team.

The New Martinsville Parks and Recreation Commission is offering a youth soccer league open to boys and girls ages five to 10.The season begins Sept. 19 and continues each Sunday through Oct. 24.

The time for the five to seven year olds is 2-3 p.m. and the time for the eight to 10 year olds is from 2:30-3:30 p.m.

During the first hour, there will be practice and in the second hour, there will be a game each week.

Children must be age five before Dec. 31 to participate. Applications are available at the New Martinsville City Building. The cost is $20 per child or $30 per family until Sept. 10 before 4:30 p.m.

The Spielers Club will be sponsoring a Josh Kirkland Benefit Sept. 4 from 6 p.m. until closing. G&K Karaoke from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
