JAKES Outdoor Day Approaching

By Staff | May 20, 2009

The Lewis Wetzel Chapter of the National Turkey Federation is holding the 2009 JAKES Outdoor Day May 30 at the Sportsman Club in Pine Grove from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. for the day-long event for boys and girls ages 6-14.

Included will be events such as clay shooting, shotgun care and handling, archery, spin cast fishing and turkey hunting safety. Participants should bring their own poles for catching bass, sunfish and catfish.

All these events, and more, will help youths focus on conservation and outdoor recreation with expert instructors. They also will learn important lessons in wildlife management, tied into a strong family-values theme with an emphasis on safety and fun.

There is no charge for this program, but pre-registration is required. For more information and to register, call Ron Horner at 304-889-2854.

Food, refreshments and all necessary equipment will be provided, but participants must have their own fishing pole. A parent or guardian must be present with children throughout the day
