Visiting Caldwell defeated River for the second time in two weeks on Tuesday, September 15, in Hannibal with wins 25-22, 25-18, and 25-19 to take the match in straight sets.

In the first set Karly Showalter served up six points, and Mallarie Maddy knocked down five kills, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Redskins overall team play. Leading 23-22 the visitors got a point on a kill and then closed it out on the next serve to win the set. The highlight of the set was Hallie Hammel getting her 1,000th career kill.

Set two saw the teams tied at 5-5 and 9-9 and 11-11 before Caldwell rattled off four straight to take a 15-11 lead on their way to the win. River received five points from Showalter to lead the way, and Hallie Hammel and Maddy each had three kills.

The final set was a battle at the net with both teams hammering down kills before the Redskins used the service line to score 10 of their last 13 points to gain the advantage and get the win.

Leading the Lady Pilots on the night was Maddy with 14 kills and 14 digs, plus three service points, Hammell added 12 kills and 14 digs, plus three blocks at the net. Gracen Reed ended with 12 assists on 41 sets, while Showalter got 11 assists on 38 sets. Showalter finished the night with 11 service points including two aces, while Aubrey Fetty was the dig leader with 24.
