Bruce Park Busy with Pickleballers
Passing by Bruce Park in the morning hours, you are likely to see several dozen people at one time playing the wildly popular sport of Pickleball. It was just a few years ago the game was first being played in Brooklyn Park. As time passed, and more people wanted to take up the sport that is not as physical as tennis, it grew and moved to Bruce Park. It gives the players time and some outdoor exercise to keep them fit and healthy.
Although the game seems to be a new thing to most people, the sport itself goes back to 1965 when it was first played in the state of Washington.
Over the years many seniors saw this game could be a way to get out to play with friends, and have the added benefit of physical exercise.
At any one time, the Bruce Park Tennis courts may have as many as eight games going at any one time. The advantage of the game, it is possible to play indoors in cold weather, and outside in warm conditions.
If you believe sitting on the couch is allowing your muscles to sag, perhaps you should stop by the pickleball courts. Those playing will welcome you and then beat your pants off in a lively game of Pickleball.
