Magnolia Drops Slug Fest at Madonna 17-10

Thursday travelled up to Weirton on Thursday May 14 to play Madonna in high school baseball action and fell 17-10 to the Blue Dons.

The Blue Eagles were hurt by nine errors that led to several runs. The Eagles led 5-2 after two innings, then fell behind 10-7, but came back in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game. However, the Blue Dons took advantage of walks, hit batters, errors, and a couple hits to break it open and win the game 17-10.

Brayden Byers suffered the loss on the mound for the Blue Eagles.

Magnolia had 10 hits, scored 10 runs, eight batters walked, and eight struck out. They were led at the plate by Kyrian Starkey going 2-3 with two RBIs. Finn Loy, Conner Carpenter, Trey Satow, Ian Hedrick, Jaxson Goddard, Jonah Coulter, Brayden Byers, and Liam Day had one hit each.

Madonna had 13 hits, 17 runs, seven walks, and eight batters struck out. The Dons were led by Lazear going 3-4 with three RBI’s, while scoring four runs. Brooks went 3-5 with three RBIs, and Kaczmarek 4-5, scoring 4 runs, and knocking in two.

Lazear got the win on the mound, and Madonna improved to (11-9) on the season.

Magnolia moved to 12-12 with the loss.
