Magnolia traveled out route 20 to Jacksonburg on Monday evening May 4th to battle the Valley Lumberjills in girls high school softball action and beat the hosts 13-6.

The Blue Eagles went right to work scoring three runs in the top of the first and adding three more in the second to lead 6-0 Valley scored a run in the bottom of the third, but the visiting Lady Eagles added three more in the fourth for a 9-1 lead. They went up 10-1 in the top of the fifth, but the Lumberjills plated a pair in the bottom of the inning to make it 10-3. Magnolia scored three more over the next two innings and Valley added a pair in the bottom of the seventh to reach the final result.

The Eagles Sophia Alexander and Kaylee Yost both doubled in the first inning knocking in runs to give the Blue Eagles the early lead.

Magnolia added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Jessa Anderson doubled down the left field line, Alexander singled down the right field line, and Bella Sockman singled down the right field line, each scoring one run to go ahead 6-1.

The Jills added a run in the bottom of the third inning. In the top of the fourth Magnolia would score three runs with two runs coming off the bat of Jessa Anderson who cracked a shot over the fence.

Aerie Varner got the win on the mound for the Blue allowing eight hits, five runs, (two earned), walking three batters, and striking out three.

Magnolia hammered out 18 hits, 13 runs, three walks, and had seven strikeouts. They were led by Sophia Alexander going 5-5 with two doubles, two RBIs, and scoring two runs. Bella Sockman was 3-4 with a triple, and three RBIs, while scoring four runs. Kaylee Yost was 1-4, scoring a run and knocking in one. Jessa Anderson went 3-5, with a home run and a double, scored four runs, and had three RBI’s. Varner added a hit, while Audri Quinn was 3-5 with two RBI’s. Sydney Knight 2-4 with an RBI.

Michaela Miller suffered the loss on the mound for the Lumberjills, allowing 14 hits, 13 runs, three walks, and seven strikeouts.

The Lumberjills had eight hits, five runs, three walks, and struckout three times.

Kynnedi Dallison led Valley going 2-4 including a hard hit double, and scored two runs. Demi Long went, scored a run and had an RBI. Maddy Miller added a double and scored a run, while Ruthie Lemley went 1-3 with 2 RBIs, and scored a run. Kendra Highley and Alanna Hendershot each had a hit.

Magnolia improved to (8-11) on the season, while the Lumberjills fell to 7-18.
