Ava Wohnhas Leads The Lady Pilots Over Magnolia 7-1

The visiting River Pilots improved to (4-0) on Saturday afternoon, March 28, in New Martinsville, with a 7-1 win over the Lady Eagles at Hydro Field.
River senior Ava Wohnhas All-Ohio candidate went 2-3 with a home run in the second inning and drove in four runs to pace the Pilots. Wohnhas, one of the valley’s top returning pitchers went the distance with a stellar performance, striking out 15 batters, walking none, while giving up one run, and surrendered five hits. Carlee Winkler, the only other senior on the squad, went 2-4 from the plate, knocking in a run. Sophomore Chloe Longwell was 1-3, freshman Addison Lee was 1-4 with a RBI, and freshman Lillian Rinner had a hit.
River had seven hits, three batters walked, and five struckout. The Pilots stranded nine runners on base.
Magnolia dropped to (2-3) on the season and received one hit each from Bella Sockman 1-3 with a RBI. Jessa Anderson went 1-3, Sydney Knight 1-3, Sophia Alexander 1-3, and Brooklyn Kennedy 1-3 for the home team.
Magnolia stranded five base runners on base. Aerie Varner suffered the loss on the mound for the Lady Eagles, giving up seven runs, seven hits, three walks, two errors, one homerun, and recording five strikeouts.
