The OVAC Cross Country Results

The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference held their cross country championships on Saturday, October 9, 2021, in Cambridge, Ohio.

The Middle School boys results showed Suncrest Middle School as the team winner with 49 points. The individual winning runner was Maddox Roach an eighth grader from East Liverpool. 30 middle school teams took part in the event with 141 individual runners participating. Paden City eighth grader Dennis Riley came in 18th out of 141 with great time of 12:20.40.

In the Middle School girls division Zoe Zervos a seventh grader from Sherrard took individual honors with a first place finish time of 11:58.03 to be the only runner under 12 minutes out of the 126 runners from 27 schools. Paden City eighth grader Jadyn Duncan finished 23rd with a time of 14:06.12.

In the High School Boys division 33 teams competed with University High winning the event with a score of 27 points. The top two individuals runners were both from University with both running under 16 minutes. The top local runner was Magnolia junior Lucas Zombotti with a time of 18:52.12 tofinish 79th among the 217individual participants. Paden City senior Brandon Hizer crossed the finish line in a time of 19:00.06 to finish in the 83rd spot. Magnolia also had freshman Landon Davis finish in 19:25.57.The Blue Eagles had Shiv Patel a sophomore finish in 21:03.45.

Morgantown high school was the top team in the girls division with a winning point total of 18. They won the top three sports and six of the top eight. The top local runner was River high school sophomore Mara Beard who came in 20th out of 187 runners with a time of 21:41.51. Hundred high school senior Rachel Snedden was 43rd among the large contingent with a good time of 22:11.47. Paden City freshman Lexi Mathis was the next local runner to cross the finish line with a time of 22:50.16 good for 59th among the field. River senior Camryn Caldwell followed her to the line with a time of 22:54. 92 to grab the 62nd spot. The next local runner was Paden City sophomore Jocelyn Sawinski with a time of 26:44.47 good for the 139th position.
