Paden City Football Gets Second Win

The Wildcats improved to 2-2 on the season with a lopsided 55-0 win over the Hornets on Friday, September 24, at Cosgray field in Hundred.

The Cats showed complete dominance over the winless Hornets as they took control early and jumped out to a 42-0 halftime lead and added 13 more in the fourth quarter to get the win

Leading the way for the Wildcats was freshman Quarterback Kayden Myers who completed 14-22 pass attempts for 228 yards and five touchdowns. Sophomore running back Joey Baker was the leading ground gainer with 138 yards on 17 carries for two touchdowns.

William Christensen grabbed eight passess on the night for 100 yards and a score, while Julian Landauer snatched three passess for 67 yards and two TD’s. Aston Little caught two passes for 60 yards and two TD’s.

All four receivers are sophomores. Baker also had five yards on one catch and returned punts for 44 more yards giving him 187 all-purpose yards on the night.

Landauer aceraged 38 yards on eight kickoffs with the longest being 59 yards. Christensen picked off two passes for 35 yards and Landauer had one interception for a 60 yard touchdown return.

Gavin Lewis led the Cats on defense with nine solo tackles, while Landauer added five tackles, Little got five tackles, Hunter Fulks had five tackles and Jasup Spragg had four tackles.

Christensen and Myers each had two solo tackles.

The Cats will be at home on Friday against Calhoun County as they look to improve their record to 3-2, with a makeup game scheduled for the following Wednesday, October 6, at home against Trinity.

“The boys have a couple home games coming up and are excited to play before the home crowd. I like the way they are maturing as a group. This group excites be with their hard work, determination, and dedication. We will be looking at some ways to get better in practice this week in anticipation of a tough battle with Calhoun,” said coach Price.
