Summer Volleyball Camp at Tyler Consolidated
It’s coming and coming soon. And youngsters from near and far will be coming to take part in the annual Knights Volleyball Camp, which will once again be conducted by the volleyball coaching staff at Tusculum University and taking place in the Tyler Consolidated High School gym July 26-29.
According to Knights Volleyball Coach Richard Summers, registrations have already been received from campers from Preston County, Williamstown, Parkersburg, and local communities. “Out-of-town campers often visit their grandparents the week of camp and enjoy making new friends and playing volleyball,” said Summers.
TCHS Coaches Richard and Tracy Summers have been involved in offering camps to area youth for over thirty years, starting with the Triple Threat Basketball Camp in Middlebourne and then the very popular Sistersville Fitness Camp, which ran for over fifteen years. The Knights Volleyball Camp is now in its sixteenth year.
Coach Richard Summers said, “We’ve hosted this camp long enough that we now have former players who have daughters attending. Kids love camps and love being with other kids their age. There are no unhappy kids at a camp. Even with Covid last year and kids being in masks, you could see smiles.”
The camp runs from 12:30 until 3:00 each day for campers entering grades 4 through 8 in the fall, and those who choose to arrive by 12:00 noon will have a delicious free lunch provided by the cooks at Tyler Consolidated. All campers who are pre-registered are guaranteed a camp T-shirt. The cost for the camp is $85 if pre-registered by July 15th, and $95 for camp day registration. Registration forms may be picked up at the City Pool or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
“We feel blessed that we have the support of our school administration to once again offer this camp. It is one of the highlights of our summer and we know some of the campers will feel the same,” said Summers.
