Magnolia tops Wildcats

Paden City battled Magnolia tough for two and a half inning before the Blue Eagles put together a seven run inning in the bottom of the third to knock the Wildcats out of tournament play and end their season.

The Blue Eagles had five hits in the inning with singles by Kristen Francis, Olivia Stine, Shyanna White and Haiden Bland, while Karissa Postlethwait drilled a double to the lift the Eagles to the win.

Cameron Tops Paden City in Sectional Softball Matchup

Paden City drew first blood on Tuesday Night, June 1, at the 1-470 complex in Wheeling, in a Region 1 Section 1 girls softball game, but the home team Cameron Dragons struck back in the bottom of the inning to score four runs on their way to an 8-4 victory.

The Wildcats scored a run in the first when senior Raven Fulks tripled with one out and scored when Neavah Sweeney singled her in with two out. Cameron plated four runs in the bottom on three singles, two walks and two hit batters. The Dragons added another run in the second for a 5-1 lead.

In the third Paden City opened the inning with a single by Ava Gallo, Fulks grounded out and the Wildcats got two runs on three consecutive singles by Madi Kline, Neavah Sweeney, and Tanley McEldowney scoring Gallo and Kline, and cutting the lead to 5-3. However Cameron added three more in the bottom of the fourth to go up 8-3. Paden City added another run to the scoreboard in the top of the fifth when Fulks doubled and then scored on an RBI double by Kline.

Paden City ended with nine hits including a triple and double by Fulks, and a double and single by Kline. Bre Hoskins took the loss for the Wildcats while Mason got the win for the Dragons. Mason had 10 strikeouts in the contest, while walking just one batter.
