Magnolia Competes in Kim Nutter Track Classic

Magnolia boys and girls track teams competed in the annual Kim Nutter Invitational track meet held at Parkersburg High School Stadium Field on Friday April 23. Thirteen teams from West Virginia and Ohio competed in the event.

In the girls meet Parkersburg won with 122 points followed by Wheeling Park 102, Charleston Catholic 75, Point Pleasant 69, John Marshall 57, and Magnolia with 33.

The Boys meet was won by Wheeling Park with 128 points. Magnolia finished seventh with 27 points.

In the girls 100 meter dash Magnolia junior Jaci Rohde got third place with a time of 13.48 good for six points. Just a tenth of a second separated the top three finishers as they crossed the finish line in a mirror finish. The Blue Eagles added a point in the 300 meter hurdles with freshman Reese Hale grabbing sixth place with a time of 55.01.

In the 4×100 meter relay the Blue Eagles using all underclassmen turned on the jets and finished in second place behind Park with a time of 55.51 good for eight points. The team consisted of Bre Herrick, Kaylee Cline, Julia Lilze, and Jaci Rohde. The same team then added eight more Blue Eagle points with another second place finish in the 4×200 meter relay again finishing second to Wheeling Park with a time of 1:58.09.

The Eagles 4×400 meter relay team of Cline, Lilze,Myranda Moore, and Herrick scored a fifth place finish with a

time of 4:52.85 and good for 2 points.

Magnolia added more points to their total with a third place finish in the 4×100 meter shuttle hurdle relay finishing in 1:21.03 good for six points with a team of Hale, Sarah Morgan, Lilze, and Shaela Holliday. All four girls are underclassmen. Rohde gave Magnolia two more points with a fifth place in the long jump with a leap of 13-10.75.

In the Boys meet Magnolia got its first points on the night with a fourth place run in the 800 meter from junior Brady Renner with a time of 2:13.85 good for two points.

The Blue Eagles grabbed third place in the 4×400 meter relay in time of 3:45.59 with a team of Gavin Herrick, Jason Beisel, Logan Beegle, and Brady Renner for four points.

The Eagles put eight more points in the book with a second place finish in the 4×800 meter relay as they came in at 9:19.88 with a team of Beisel, Renner, Herrick and Chase Glover. The team of Renner, Marcus Barnes, Glover, and Damien Gatian came in second in the 4×100 meter shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:12.84 good for eight more points for the Blue. The time was less than a tenth of a second behind the first place team.

Logan Beegle added one more point for Magnolia as he got sixth place in the pole vault with a vault of 8-00.00.
