Hundred Hornets Fall to Jefferson County Christian
Jefferson County Christian handed Hundred a 21-16 defeat on Saturday April 24, in Hundred.
The Hornets went up 8-4 after three innings, but the visitors from Ohio, came storming back in the final four innings getting 17 runs with seven coming in the top of the fifth.
Hundred was down 21-9 going into the bottom of the last inning, before the bats came alive to get seven runs, but it was too little to late and Jefferson County took home the win.
For the Hornets Christian Fluharty threw the first three innings giving up four runs with one hit and six strikeouts, plus a walk. Gauge Boston relieved him in the top of the fourth and gave up 13 hits and 17 runs, while striking out four and walking two to take the loss.
The Hornets committed 13 errors during the game. Fluharty went 3 for 6 with a double and a home run (grand slam) and 7 rbi’s. Dylan Walton was 3 for 6 with 1 rbi and Everett Johnson was 2 for 6 with a double.
thriller over Trinity
Homestanding Hundred fell behind 4-0 to visiting Trinity on Thursday, April 22, but the never say die Hornets got four runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning to tie the game. In the top of the seventh Trinity looked like they would put the game away as they plated four more runs to take a commanding 8-4 lead with Hundred up for their last at bat.
The Hornets then stung five times to get the 9-8 win. Dylan Walton picked up the win on the mound for the home team working two innings of relief and getting two strikeouts while walking five and giving up five hits. Bobby Hostutler started the game and went five innings striking out 13 batters, walking six and giving up just one hit. Evan Rice suffered the loss for the Warriors.
Each team had six hits with Christian Fluharty getting a pair of singles, scoring two runs and driving in a run. Walton helped his own cause with two singles, a hard hit double and two RBI, while also scoring a pair of runs. Everett Johnson added the other hit for the Hornets a line shot single.
Hundred ended with four errors in the match up while visiting Trinity committed just one.
