MHS’ Stillwagoner Medals in Charleston

Magnolia senior 195 lb. James Stillwagner earned sixth place in the 2020 WVSSAC Class 1A/2A West Virginia High School State Wrestling Tournament Feb. 27-29 at Big Sandy Arena in Huntington.

Stillwagner opened the state tournament with a win over Evan Fuellhart of Winfield, but lost to Jacob Williams of Nichlas County,putting him in the losers bracket. James then defeated Caiden Adams of Oak Glenn and Jason Turner of Chapmanville, before losing to Garrett Conaway of North Marion. He then lost fifth place to Noah Castro of Clay County, placing him sixth in the 195 lb. Division.

Mikey Hamrick lost his opening match to Garrett Williams of Grafton, sending him to the losers bracket. Mikey then beat Christian Hall and Jake Muncy of Point Pleasant before losing to Kamar Summers of Bridgeport, one win from placing.

The Blue Eagle duo both finished their career with over 500-wins during their high school career. The Eagles junior 120 lb. Jason Beisel earned a place in the state tournament, but was sick with the flu and didn’t get to compete.
