Area Trio Earn AOW Honors
We have a Blue Eagle and a pair of Lumberjacks that earned their way into the final regular season for Athletes of the Week.
Magnolia’s Levi Cecil had a career-high 19-points, with five baskets from beyond the arc in their regular season finale loss to St Marys.
VHS senior Abe Satterfield (17-points) with 2-triples, and junior Tommy Shannon (18-points with four 3-balls) in the regular season finale in a 2-point loss to Hundred.
This is the first week this season that Shannon has been in the running for this award. He scored a team-high 19-points, with 4-baskets beyond the arch, including two very long baskets. Satterfield has been close a couple times and has been the Most Improved a couple times. In the loss to Hundred, Abe was everywhere, he scored 17-points, including 2 from beyond the arch.
Streets is our third choice to be named the Outstanding Athlete of the Week. Streets played like a player possessed, as he tallied 16-points, but most of his came after making a steal and or rebound and going the distance.
The Hundred Hornets Eli Geho (13-points with a trio of 3-pointers), and the Lumberjacks Gavin Streets (13-points) is our selection as the Most Improved Athletes of the Week.
Only area athletes from Hundred, Magnolia, Paden City, River and Valley are eligible to win the athlete of the week, and can only do it one time, until they reach playoffs as well as conference tournaments.
We also will try to pick the most improved player from each school, week after week, too.
