By Staff | Feb 11, 2020

The Hundred Hornets Rachel Snedden prepares to drain one of her first of three baskets from beyond the arch in the Lady Hornets first OVAC Final Four appearance.

Beallsville Blue Devils senior Ashley Lauden scored 31-points with 4-treys to lead Beallsville back to the OVAC Class-A Championship with a convincing 66-28 win over the Hundred Hornets Feb. 3 inside the Devils Den at BHS Gymnasium.

The Blue Devils jumped out to a 11-0 run and never looked back in taking a 35-5 first half lead, that included holding the Hornets scoreless in the second period.

However, the never give up Hornets started to heat up in the second half swishing 7-baskets from beyond the arch, while sinking double-digit points in both the third and fourth periods.

“I’m so proud of my girls, we never gave up and competed to the end,” said Hundred Head Coach Steve

Dakan. “I had a goal at the start of the season, to win as many games as we could and be able to compete for the OVAC Class-A championship as one of the top 4-teams.”

Rachel Snedden paced the Lady Hornets with 13-points, including 3-triples, while Sydney Duckworth provided 10-points, with a trio of long range bonus bombs. Addie Tuttle also sank a 3-ball, tallied 5-points to account for the rest of the Hundred scoring. Hundred was without the services of Mahalah Britton and Kayley Davis pulling down double-digit rebounds and giving their guards the opportunity to get their looks, which made it tough for the visitors to compete.

Besides Lauden’s scoring Ashley Howell worked her magic inside scoring 15-markers to add to the Blue Devils attack.
