The Hornets' Jacob Kuhn gets the win over a dejected Clee Mitchell of River.

Magnolia’s Sam Zombotti (138lbs.) defeated Kyler Peters of Hundred and Alexis Felton of River by pin-falls early in the opening period to help Magnolia defeat both River (48-21) and Hundred (66-3) in high school wrestling in a tri-match Jan. 4 inside the MHS HammerDome.

Also picking up wins for Magnolia was Austin Stillwagoner (152 lbs) over Jaden Rush of Hundred by a pin-fall, while Blue Eagle teammates Trenton Mitchell (160 lbs) over Zack Hecut; and James Stillwagner (220 lbs) over Noah Lively all from River by pin-falls.

Those from Magnolia winning both matches against River and Hundred via forfeits were, Lucas Zombotti (106 lbs.); Jason Beisel (120 lbs.); Jordon Davis (126 lbs.); Xavier Walters (160 and 170 lbs, respectively).

Those winning 1-match via forfeits were, Hunter Scott (220 lbs) vs River; Mikey Hamrick (285 lbs) vs Hundred; James Stillwagner vs Hundred; Trenton Mitchell vs Hundred; Hunter Werkau (145 lbs) vs Hundred; Tyler Weakley (152 lbs) vs River;

The Pilots freshman Marshall Bier (285 lbs) defeated the Blue Eagles Mikey Hamrick, 10-5 and teammate Clee Mitchell (132 lbs) defeated the Blue Eagles Jesse Coulter by a pinfall. The Pilots Nicholas Macheca (145 lbs) won on a late pinfall over the Blue Eagles Austin Stillwagner, while Christopher Heavener (113 lbs) won by forfeit vs Magnolia.

The Hundred Hornets Jacob Kuhn (132 lbs) won 11-6 over the Eagles Jesse Coulter and beat Clee Mitchell of River. No other statistics were available in the River vs Hundred match other than the Pilots winning 36-6.

Eagles Win Three-More

The Blue Eagle wrestling team is stock-piling a lot of wins of late, notched 3-more with wins over Wheeling Central (70-0), Bellaire (60-17) and Doddridge County (48-39\0) Jan. 8 inside the MHS HammerDome.

Hunter Scott and Mikey Hamrick each earned pin-fall wins against the Maroon Knights, while James Stillwagoner earned the lone Blue Eagle win on the mat, while all the other wins came from forfeits.

Magnolia gets big wins at St. Marys

James Stillwagoner receoves his 100th career win and moves to 21-0 for the season

The Blue Eagle grabblers continued to impress during the weekend wrestling tournament in St. Marys. The Blue finished the meet in tied with Ravenswood for fifth place among the 18 teams participating and ended with 105 points.

James Stillwagoner earned a championship victory in the 195 pound weight class with a pin over Nicholas Barrickman of Elkins., while Mikey Hamrick gained the championship in the 285 pound wight class with a pin over Cameron’s Gunner Bryan.

Magnolia had a winner in the concolation round whe Jason Beisel gained a 9-0 match decision over Parkersburg South wrestler Alden Maze in the 120 pound class. Trenton Mitchell also won in the consolation round with a pin over Hunter Jones of Huntington at 160 pounds.

Making it to the consolation round for the Eagle and adding points to the total were Jordon Davis who fell to Parkersburg South’s Trystan Burrows in a hard fought decision 8-0.

Allen Collins made the consolation round but fell by default to Max Spect of Huntington.

Lucas Zombotti went 1-2 in the tournament at 106 lbs; Beisel finished 3-1 at 120 lbs and grabbed third place; Davis went 2-2 at 126 lbs and ended in fourth place; Collins went 4-1 at 132 lbs for fourth (had to FF for 3rd due to 5 matches).

Sam Zobotti 138 lbs went 1-2; Austin Werkea 152 lbs went 0-2; Trenton Mitchell 160 lbs went 3-1 and ended third; Xavier Walters at 170 lbs was 0-2; Stillwagoner was 3-0 and champion; Hunter Scott 220 lbs was 0-2; and Mikey Hamrick 285 lbs was 2-0 and champion
