Hundred gets second straight win
The Hornets are buzzing in Hundred as they claimed their second straight win in a row with a hard fought 55-51 victory over visiting Beallsville.
The Hornets who now stand at (2-2) on the season displayed a great brand of basketball as they mixed up defenses and played uptempo ball to take down the game Blue Devils. Beallsville took a six point lead into the locker room at the half, but the Hornets weren’t to be denied as the duo of Logan Norris and Cody Soles proved to be to much for Beallsville to handle.
At the end of the third quarter the Blue Devils were on top by 10 but that’s when Hundred decided they’d had enough and stung the Blue Devils to the tune of a 19-5 fourth quarter finish to get the win.
Norris hit for 20 points on six field goals and an 8-8 showing at the free throw line, while Soles hit eight field goals including a 3-pointer to lead the way. Junior center Robert Hostutler add four points on two field goals to the Hornets total, while Aaron Stevens drilled a long range 3-pointer for his only points of the game. Adam Stevens added a basket as well and Martin Baker a senior guard scored four points on two baskets. Eli Geho got the Hornets other two points on a short jumper.
Beallsville had the games top scorer in Mayle who canned 24 points. They also had three more double digit scorers with Taylor hitting 13, Moffo scoring 12 and Pielech adding 10, however it wasn’t enough to overcome the athleticism or team effort the Hornets displayed and their never say never attitude.
Hundred hit on 13-18 free throws and made 18 field goals while Beallsville made 17 field goals and were only 13-25 from the line. Soles grabbed 13 rebounds in the contest to give him a double-double on the night, while Norris added eight rebounds and six steals.
