Blue Eagles Stay Unbeaten
Trailing 18-16 at the half the Magnolia Blue Eagles. Knew they needed to do something in the second half. That’s exactly what happed as the Blue Eagles guard duo of senior Jake Gamble and Sophomore Trevor Williamson combined for 23 second half points. Which included seven threes as the Eagles outscored the Ritchie County Rebels 33-15 in the second half. To defeat the Rebels 49-33 on Thursday December 19th at Ritchie County.
In the first quarter it was a low scoring affair as the Rebels lead the Eagles 6-4. Q Turner and Trent Scheilbelhood both had two in the first quarter for the Eagles. In the second quarter the Rebels opened up the quarter on a 9-1 run and led the Blue Eagles 15-5 at one point of the quarter. But the Eagles then went on a 11-1 run as a three from Williamson would tie the game up at 16-16. The Rebels got a two just before the Half to take an18-16 lead into the locker room. Scoring in the quarter was Turner with seven, Williamson three Chase Glover and Scheibelhood each had two.
In the third the Eagles pesky defense held the Rebels in check as they had just five points and didn’t score a field goal until under a minute and a half to go in the frame. While the Eagles scored 14 points of their own.
The biggest shot of the game came at the end of the third as Williamson drilled a three to beat the buzzard to end the quarter and give the Eagles a 30-23 lead. In the period Williamson had six, Turner five, and Gamble three.
In the fourth quarter it appeared Gamble had seen enough of the Rebels hanging around as he poured in 11 points and the Eagles outscored the Rebels 19-10 to get the game. Also scoring in the fourth for the Eagles was Williamson and Scheibelhoodwith three and Turner with two.
Stats on the night for the Eagles had Turner 16 points 14 rebounds, Gamble had 14 all in the second half which included four threes.
He also added seven rebounds and two steals. Williamson hit four threes for his 12 points while also getting a steal. Scheibelhood had five points to go along with seven rebounds.
Chase Glover rounded out the scoring with two points.
