Soles, Piatt Earn AOW Honors
Hundred Hornet senior Cody Soles recorded a double-double with 26-points and 10-rebounds in a tough, 73-72 home loss to the Cameron Dragons on a pair of very late free throws.
The River Pilots Kylie Piatt had a pretty good week. She scored 45-points in 3-games, with 12-points, with 4-three’s in a won over Bridgeport; 17-points and a trio of 3’s in a win over Frontier and 16-points and a pair of 3’s in a win over Magnolia.
The Hundred Hornets Rachel Snedden and Malahah Britton is this week’s Most Improved players. Snedden scored 12-points, with one three-ball in a win over Highland, VA in the opener of the Harmon Holiday Tournament, and topped that with 17-points with 4-three’s in the championship win over Harmon. Meanwhile Britton scored a double-double 18-points, 15-rebounds and 2-blocks in their win over Highland County, and scored 4-points with 15-rebounds and 2-blocks in the win over Harmon.
Only area athletes from Hundred, Magnolia, Paden City, River and Valley are eligible to win the athlete of the week, and can only do it one time, until they reach playoffs as well as conference tournaments.
I will also try to pick the most improved player from each school, week after week, too.
