Lumberjacks Take Down Wildcats

The visiting Lumberjacks put 19 unanswered points on the board in the fourth quarter to pull away fro the Wildcats and gain the win to finish the season 3-7. Gavin Streets Valleys superb running back went wild rushing for 187 yards and four touchdowns to lead the assault in the 37-19 victory for the visitors.

Streets scored hid first touchdown on a 17 yard burst up the middle at the 3:55 mark of the first period and came right back two minutes later with a 59 yard run for a score to give the Lumberjacks a first quarter lead 12-0. Just a little over two minutes into the second period Valley’s Abe Satterfield went off tackle for 10 yards and a score and after the failed extra point the visitors held a comfortable 18-0 lead.

Paden City has been able to put points on the board all season long and with 7:09 left in the second Clayton Thomas the Wildcats senior running back plowed over a couple defenders for a score. The point after failed but the Wildcats got some momentum going. Just three minutes later Cats quarterback Ethan Cross ran in from a yard out to make it a one score game which stood up going into the halftime break.

In the third period Paden City gained the lead when Cross scored his second six on the night from four yards away and added the extra point kick giving the Wildcats a 19-18 lead. Valley couldn’t dent the board in the third period, but they picked it back up in the fourth and added three scores to get the win.

Streets scored on a 22 yard run with 11:51 to play to give the Lumberjacks the lead for good. He then added an insurance run of 16 yards for six points to make it 31-19 after the point after kick. Paden City drove downfield and looked like they might add another but they were held and Valley added a 18 yard scoring run by Satterfield his second of the night to get the final result.

Valley racked up 279 yards rushing on 45 carries and six touchdowns while comleting just 1-3 passes with an interception. Paden City ended with 136 yards rushing on 30 attempts for three touchdowns and was 14-30 passing by Cross for 105 yards and an interception.

Streets led Valley with 187 on 20 carries for four scores, Satterfield had 55 yards on 12 totes and two scores and Wood added 16 yards on six carries while Dallison got 21 yards on five totes. Paden Citty’s rushing attack was led by Cross with 50 yards on 12 carries and Thomas with 21 yards on 10 carries. Parker Higgins got 65 yards on eight carries. Bryant McKay caught four passes for 29 yards, while Wade had two catches for 34 yards and Moore got two for 25 yards. Thomas also caught three passes for 13 yards and Anderson had two catches for five yards.

Valley had 13 first downs and Paden City ended with 11.
