River Pilots Ground Bridgeport Bulldogs, 60-6

The River Pilots tallied 53-first half points, and went on to defeat Bridgeport 60-6 Oct. 18 in Bridgeport.

Carter Dennis got the party started with a 2-yard run, while the combination of Stone Thompson to Jake Rose accounted for 61-yards and a TD to give the visiting Pilots a 12-0 lead in the opening period. Dennis added another score on a 13-yard run, while sophomore Zack Hocutt added the PAT boot to extend the Pilots a 19-0 lead. However, the Pilots sophomore Brody Longwell stepped in front of a Bulldog receiver for a 88-yard interception return to extend the Pilots lead to 25-0 after one period of play.

The second quarter was also good for the visitors, as the tallied 28-second period points with Michael Johnson going the distance from 69-yards away; Chase Lawrence recovered a fumble in the end-zone, Heath Rosen running one in from 4-yards out; Colton Lawrence added a 2-yard TD scamper; Ty Long crossed the end-zone from 5-yards out for the Pilots last touchdown, while Hocutt kicked five through the uprights on PAT boots for all the Pilot scoring.

Johnson accumulated 134-of the Pilots 278-yards rushing and a touchdown. Clee Mitchell tacked on 53-yards on 5-carries, while Long posted 3-yards rushing and a touchdown on 8-carries.

In addition, Travis Childers gained 3-yards on a pair of attempts, while Carter Dennis added 21-yards and 2-scores on only 3-carries.

Colton Lawrence tacked on a 2-yard touchdown on his only carry, while Thompson and Hocutt each garnered 2-yards rushing. Elijah Wayt ended all the River Rushing with 4-yards.

Thompson was 7-10 for 137-yards through the air, while Lollathin was 1-2 for 61-yards and a touchdown. Jake Rose accumulated 82-yards and a score, while Colton Lawrence added 69-yards, Johnson, 30-yards, Chase Lawrence, 11-yards and Long, 6-yards.

The Pilots moved the chains 14 times to 8 for Bridgeport. The Pilots also had 5-infractions, and Bulldogs made 2.

Defensively, Cater Dennis made 11 tackles and a quarterback sack in limited play, as well with Heath Rosen who had 10-tackles and a QB sack. Austin Creamer added 7-tackles, while Brody Longwell made 1-tackle, but also went the distance on a 88-yard interception return.

The Pilots will host Caldwell Friday night, with kick-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
