Paden City Clips Cross-County Rival

Paden City celebrates following a hard-fought victory against cross country rival and defending W.Va. champion Magnolia.

It was a nip and tuck battle from start to finish with Paden City winning the first set 25-20, before the Blue Eagles came to life in set two and rolled over the Cats fairly easy 25-11. Paden City Coach Jennifer Yeater rallied her troops however and came back in set three to capture the Tri-Match with a hard fought 25-18 win.

Magnolia senior Kyndra Pilant hammered down 28 big kills during the battle but it wasn’t enough as the Cats gained control in the third set to take the match. Pilant added s-digs, 5-points, 3-Aces, and 3-blocks to complete her nights work. Senior Zoey Jenkins scored 6-points from the service line and added 6-digs in support. Lenieca Grimm scored 11 points, icluding 2-Aces, while offering up 30 assistsand 3-digs.

Kayna Anderson had 13 digs from her libero position and served up 6-points. Liza Clegg got 3-points, 2-kills, and 1-dig. Jaci Rhode had 4-kills and 3-digs while Alyssa Kocher scored 2-points and had 3-digs. Shaela Holiday got 1-dig to finish the stats for the Blue Eagles.

The Wildcats were led by their two juniors Hope Weber who got 20 kills and Mallory Yeater who filled the stat sheet with with 21 assists on 65 sets, plus 12 points including an ace, 7-kills, and 9-digs. Weber alng with Yeater and the supporting cast proved to be to much as Weber also added six digs and an assist. Senior Cora Anderson scored 5 points, including 3Aces, added 7- digs, 3-assists, and 1 block. Madi Kline finished with 2-blocks. Tanley McEldowney ended with a match high 16 digs, while adding 2 points and an ace. Brandis Dalrymple had 5-kills, 5-blocks, and 1 dig for the Wildcats, while McKenzie Thomas ended with 6-assists, and 6-digs. Maggi Still added 13 digs and served up 3-points. Hallie McDonald got an assist and a dig, to round out the Wildcat stats.

Magnolia defeats St.Marys 25-5, 25-14

  • In the Blue Eagles win over the Blue Devils Pilant led the charge with 17 kills, 6-points, icluding 3-Aces, 1-assist and 1-block. Grimm led the scoring with 12 service points, including 3-Aces, plus 17 assists and 1-dig. Clegg had 7-points with an Ace. Anderson added 3-digs, 6-points, including 3-Aces, while Kocher scored 3-points and tacked on 1-dig. Jenkins scored a point from the service line, and Holiday added 2-kills.
