Paden City Drops Home Opener

Paden City hosted Wirt County on Friday night with hope of rebounding for their opening game of the season defeat at Frontier, Ohio, on August 30. The result was a little better but the outcome was still the same and the Cats now are 0-2 following the 40-8 loss to the Tigers.

The Wildcats lone score came on a T.D. run by senior Clayton Thomas who finished with 65 yards on 13 carries. Ethan Cross gained 61 yards on 9-carries. The Cats were held to 126 yards rushing on 23 carries and picked up 74 yards through the air. Senior Ethan Cross went 14-30 for 52 yards and 4-interceptions. Freshman backup quarterback Zane Yeater was 6-12 for 30 yards and 5-interceptions. Cross caught 4-passes for 17-yards while McKay grabbed 6 for 14-yards and Higgins had 13 yards with 2-receptions.

Wirt County gained 194 yards rushing and 37 through the air. The Cats will be on the road next week against Van High School and home on the 20th vs Bridgeport, Ohio.
