Defending Champs Look Solid in Scrimmage
Defending state Class A champion Magnolia, held a pre-season volleyball scrimmage on Thursday against the John Marshall girls as they prep for the season opener on September 5, vs River.
The Pilots have several matches already under their belt, but by the looks of things on Thursday Magnolia is back for a return run towards state.
Despite playing without one of their top players Maddie Winters, the Blue Eagles soared high and took three straight sets against the Monarchs.
The reserve team also played three sets and came away on top against the visitors.
Magnolia returns all the starters from last season andare expecting big things. Competition here locally will be as tough and the Blue Eagles will need to stay on top of their game. Coach Pam Chapman has been working them hard and the girls have spent a lot of time in the off season preparing to defend their state title. Saturday September 7, will be a big day of volleyball as the Blue Eagles travel to Oak Glen to compete in the Golden Bears annual tournament.
It looks to be an exciting season for the Blue, so come out and see the girls as they showcase some of the best volleyball the state has to offer.
