Burton Speaks With Lady ’Cats

By Staff | Aug 28, 2019

Bob Burton, ex-Paden City coach and athletics director, talks with the 2019 Wildcats’ volleyball team during a recent practice.

Burton addressed the team telling them Paden City needs another state champion team. “The girls have been busy working on their game both physically and mentally, and if we play like were capable we’ll be a tough team to deal with,” said coach Jennifer Yeater.

Burton told the girls to always remember your Wildcats. He said to take pride in your school and when you hit the floor give 100 percent. “Make your community proud, your probably going to lose some, but you have a good team here and with hard work, concentration, playing together as a team and listening to your coach you can go a long way,” Burton said.

The Wildcats return the whole team from last season and are looking for big things. They have plenty of fire power and experience with most of the girls having playing time in the past. Last year they won the OVAC for the second straight season and will be shooting for a repeat this year.

The ultimate goal however is to reach the state tournament in Charleston, which would be a first for the school.
