Spotlight: Mallory Yeater

By Staff | Jun 19, 2019

Paden City’s Mallory Yeater is one of the Wetzel Chronicle’s Spotlight Athletes this week.

Heading into her Junior year and her third straight season as a Wildcat Volleyball player, Mallory Yeater a 5′ 7″ all around player has opposing coaches turning heads.

Yeater has known nothing but success since starting for the cat’s her freshman year.

Well playing for Coach Fred King her first year and helping her team to the OVAC Championship, she became a more complete player her sophomore year and moved from playing mostly as a setter to also become a better back row player, server and a force around the net.

During the off season she was a member of the Wildcats track team that made their way to the state meet in Charleston while also playing club volleyball. She has been playing club, travel, volleyball for six seasons now and this year she played on the New Wave team out of Waterford, Ohio. She has been traveling to Waterford for the past four years to gain knowedge and experience.

She show cases her discipline & dedication to the sport traveling that far for volleyball a couple days a week and on weekends. The Wildcats return everyone from last seasons team and are anxious to see what 2019 brings. Mallory’s goal is to help lead the wildcats to their first ever appearance in the state tournament.

She knows it won’t be an easy task, but she’s up to the challenge. With hard work and and the willingness to pass on her work ethic to the younger kids there’s a good chance it will happen. Yeater is a 4.0 student at Paden City High School. She’s undecided where she wants to go to college at right now, but she just might land herself a spot on one of the local college volleyball courts and with two more seasons to go it may be bigger than that. Will just have to wait and see.

Whatever she decides, you can bet it will be a good choice. However for the next two years Wildcat fans have a treat in store for them. Come out and watch her and her teammates, guarantee you you won’t be dissappointed. She is already one of the schools leaders in a couple categoties. Sure to break a few records before it’s all over.
