Spotlight: James Stillwagner

Magnolia High School’s James Stillwagner is one of the Wetzel Chronicle’s Spotlight Athletes this week.

This weeks Wetzel Chronicle Spotlight athlete, Is Magnolia upcoming senior James Stillwagner. He has been a part of the Big Blue Football, Wrestling and Track teams for three years.

Some of his honors and achievements are all state honorable meantion as a linebacker in football last year. For the first two and a half season he also played running back for the Big Blue offense. But, at the mid-way point of the season last year he made the choice to do what was best for the team and switched to the offensive line and played offensive guard. On the defensive side of the ball he lead the team last year in total tackles with 104. Was second on the team in tackles for loss with 11 and tied for the team lead in sacks with 7 he also recorded one fumble recovery last year. He is a three year letter winner in all three sports and has been a big part of the Big Blue Defense for the last two season.

Other accomplishments include his sophomore year placing sixth at the OVAC wrestling tournament. Then followed that up with 7th place finish at the OVAC wrestling tournament as a junior as well as placing fourth as a junior at the Class A region one wrestling meet. Which allowed him to qualify for the state wrestling meet in Huntington. In track he has been part of several relays to place in the top three at the state track meet in Charelston. As the 4×1 and 4×2 relays brought home top three fines his sophomore and junior season and he was also on the 4×4 his junior season which also brought home a top three finish. To add on to that the track team has also seen success as a whole as they brought home the 2018 state title for class A and finshed as state runner ups this past year as Stillwagner was a junior.

Favorite College or Pro Athlete? JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Favorite Food? Chicken Alfredo. Biggest Influences? My Dad And Grnadparents. Favorite team to Compete Against and why? Tyler Consoplidated You just know each other. That makes it more fun and more competitive. Favorite Activilty outside of Sports? Hunting. Favorite Sport? Wrestling.
