Magnolia trio is honored

Caden Cisar
Mady Winters
Silas McKeever

There were many deserving Magnolia Athletes that could have won the prestigious Athlete of the Week Award.

We decided on Mady Winters who was the only two first place winner for the Eagles at this years state track meet, she won both the shot and discus, while teammates Spencer Shepherd, Pat Mirandy and Jakob Barrows in respective events.

But, we still needed to give credit where credit is do, to MHS baseball sophomore, Caden Cisar. Caden took over the catchers duties midway through the season that has helped Magnolia to get to the WVSSAC Section I Semi-finals. During the week, he not only made some great plays from behind the plate to keep the game from ending, but drove in the trying and winning runs against St Marys, while knocking in three runs, is also a winner. And, we can go on, the Blue Eagles Silas McKeever was just as deserving as he pounded out a pair of doubles in the win over the Devils as well as making a game-saving catch. He also had one of the two Blue Eagle hits against Ritchie in the Sectional finals.

This was are last Athlete of the Week honors for the sports season. However, we will be having Athlete of the Month next week as well as Wetzel Chronicle and Tyler Star News Baseball and softball first-team, second team and honorable mention next week too.
