From My View For May 15
My time as a full-time sports writer is winding down and I couldn’t be more excited for the next chapter in my life. I can start to sleep in, and relax with a glass of milk, before stretching and see what awaits me to do first.
Saying thank-you to my Lord and savior must come first to get me going in the early morning. After praising my Lord through prayer, I will ask Siri, what is going in the world and what type of weather we were going to have for the day.
If I don’t have anything to cover for the paper, I will start walking and bump up my steps for the day. When I return home, I hope that I can start on a project that I have been wanting to do around the house, inside and or out.
If I am going to watch my grandson, I’ll go get him or they can drop him off, and we can get with the program and do some stuff and get to know each other better.
When he returns home, I expect to get some much needed reading-time and catch a bit of a show my youngest son is in coming out this winter on NETFLEX. I’m not at liberty to say what the name of the show is, but its a nice part in a show that can stay around we hope for a long time. I can’t wait to see it and when it does, you can bet, we will be having friends and family over to watch it.
The teachers at Short-Line School had a nice program I wanted to talk about. They had a program, about having game-night with your family.
The school got a grant and purchased quite a few games for different age groups, I believe up to fifth grade. They each got three games to take home that they can use to enteract with their family at home. That was so nice.
We need more at home-time with our family and its great to see the teachers got it right once again in trying to get kids interested in many activities, and especially with their family.
Also there has been a program down at the New Martinsville Museum, that has had good reviews, and I want to applauded each and everyone of them in making a difference to ones in need.
You can see by these few things that are going on in our small community, that there are good people out there that once to make a difference.
Since this might be my last column, I want to thank my sports readers for their support. I hope I did Okay.
I won’t be to far away as I will stay on and help get a good sports-section out. Like I have said in the past, I’m not all the way gone, and will stay around and help as much as I can.
You just won’t see me as much as you have in the past, but I will still help as much as I can, if they allow me too.
After school is out, there will be high school teams having camps and tournaments for you kids to contribute too. Take advantage of as many as you can.
I know some will want to work and make some money so you can buy things and do some things during your time-off. Make sure you check in with all your coaches and see what things you may do while off during the summer.
Remember, you will be only as good as you want to be if you work at it. Another thing I would like to talk about is Hundred High School football. Its been stated that they don’t have a coach, as of today. I know there our some young men and women out there just graduating college wanting to coach. I will tell you first hand these kids, teachers and school administrators are top-notch, and you will have everyone supporting you in helping you get started.
The Hundred people are a class-act and you will not have to ask for anything, they will be right there to lend you a hand. I’m asking if anybody out there is wanting to coach a high school football team, go to Hundred.
I would like to end this column by saying I’m the one that’s thankful for what you guys have done for me this past 18 years. But, if I may say one thing, take some time and stop and smell the roses, you won’t regret it. Take your time and enjoy your family and friends and always respect you elders. You young ones open a door for another, don’t walk in front of your spouse or date, walk beside them. Do unto others as you would want them to do for you. Say thank-you and mean it when someone does something nice. We are very lucky to have the communities that we have here. Help each other out and lets spread the love where ever we go, and please if you don’t go to Church, please give it a try. The good Lord has been good to me and my family and all I want is to be able to see all my friends in heaven when our time is over on this earth. And, if you don’t have a Church to attend, please give the Steelton Church Of Christ a try, 9 a.m. Bible study on Sunday morning at 10:45 for worship.
