Gamble Paces MHS With 41

Magnolia outscored the Valley Lumberjacks, 16-7, in the opening period of the Boggs Roundball Classic and held on to defeat the Lumberjacks, 60-43, to later claim third place in the tournament.

Jake Gamble paced the Big Blue with a game-high 27 points with one triple. Gamble made 8-11 free throws, while Trevor Williamson and Gavin Postlethwait each followed with nine points.

In addition, Sebastian Stickler pumped in six points, while Silas McKeever and Eli Nice each tickled the twine from beyond the arch. Jacob Miller and Matthew Gaiser each scored a deuce.

Ryan Baker led the ‘Jacks with 13 markers, including three bonus bombs, while Avery Kinkade and Levi Anderson each scored eight points. Abe Satterfield tallied seven markers, while Gavin Streets netted four points.

In addition, Jerry Evatt scored a deuce, while Tommy Shannon ended the Lumberjacks’ scoring with a free throw.

The Blue Eagles raced out to a 21-9 lead in their opener against Tyler Consolidated, but the Silver Knights had other ideas and went on to win, 64-44.

Gamble and Postlethwait paced the Eagles with 14 points each, while Trenton Scheibelhood netted six points. Williamson added four points. In addition, Levi Cecil, McKeever, and Nice each scored a deuce for all the Blue Eagle scoring.

Griffin Phillips led the Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights with 20 markers, while Gage Huffman and Tyler West each tallied 14 points for all the Knights’ double-digit scorers.

In the championship game between Tyler Consolidated and Liberty Harrison, Phillips scored a game-high 31 points, while West followed with 26 points to defeat Liberty, 92-59, to claim the 2019 Boggs Roundball title. Both Mark Rucker and Justin Bowman each followed with 11 points for all the Knights double-digit scorers.
