MHS Golf Team Off to Wheeling
History was made Monday, Sept. 24 at Mineral Wells for the Magnolia Golf Team as the players shot a combined 278 for a second place performance in a seven-team field to advance to the WVSSAC Class-A State Golf Tournament, set for next Tuesday and Wednesday at Oglebay Jones Golf Course.
Trey Blain, again, was the team’s top low-scorer with a 79, while Alex Parker shot a 94. Olivia Mensore shot a 105, and Alex Milliken finished with a 117 for their 278 score.
Wheeling Central took top honors with a 254, but Blain had the lowest score to become the Regional Medalist Champion.
Tyler Consolidated shot a 420 and was paced by Gage Potoczny with a 131; Haiden Placer was close behind with a 138. Anna Griffith shot a 151, while Ezra Reed finished with a 177 score.
Paden City was paced by Jordan Stackpole with a 136, while Matt Saxon withdrew. Dillan Shreve shot a 219, and Reece Blatt shot a 290 for a team total of 645.

Magnolia Takes Fourth In OVGL Championship
Winning the individual title in the Ohio Valley Golf League Championship was Magnolia senior Trey Blain. The Blue Eagle standout had a 36 on both sides of the course for a 72 total, while knocking in a birdie from approximately eight feet to win the medalist title on the first playoff hole.
Alex Parker followed with a 88, while Olivia Mensore tacked in a 106 and Alex Milliken shot a 102. With these scores the Blue Eagles finished in fourth place in the eight-team field with 368 points,with St Clairsville having the lowest score with a 298. Coming in second was Barnesville with a 302.
River shot a 423 total with Ridge Thompson leading the way with a 90, while Logan Alleman sunk a 95, and Daniel Swegard (107) and Matthew Lancaster (139) for the River Pilots.
The All-OVGL team consists were Blain, as well as Broc Crist, Brendan Vucelich and Jacob Jeffries from St Clairsville, as well as Jim Byler and Carter Wells from Barnesville.

Blue Eagle Golfers Win Parents Night Outing
Magnolia’s Trey Blain carded a 39, good enough to lead Magnolia to a team victory with 177 strokes and win the medalist at the Sistersville Golf Course on Parents Night, Sept. 19.
Olivia Mensore followed with a 42, while Alex Milliken finished with a 46, and Alex Parker a 50 for Magnolia.
Mack Gibbs paced the Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights (225), along with the Paden City Wildcats’ (247) Matt Saxon each shot a 54 to lead each other teams.
Jordan Stackpole followed Saxon with a 61, while Dillon Shreve shot a 65, and Reece Blatt a 67.
