Hornets’ Spikers Ready to Sting
With only having just enough to field a team, Hundred High School volleyball coach Terry Riter and veteran assistant coach Roger Tustin have quite a few new faces that came out, to go along with four letter-winners back to build a prosperous volleyball program.
Those back are Emily Metz, Savannah Bragg, Madison Fetty and Kayla Matthews to go along with newcomers Rachel Hutton, Allison Hawkins, Kayley Davis, Rachel Snedden, Aubrie Hawkins, Sara and Elizabeth Keller, Adalyn Conaway, Kayla Aracich and Casey Henderson.
Metz – the team leader, along with Bragg, will keep team together, while Fetty and Matthews will help out with a much younger team. “We are excited to have the numbers and start building a team for the future,” said Coach Riter. “However we are not giving up on the season, and we will compete as hard as we can. We have some girls that want to learn and learn they will,” added Coach Tustin.
The Lady Hornets will open up Aug. 29 at Notre Dame and will host St. Marys in their home opener Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
You will get to see the girls grow up in a hurry as they will have six of their next eight matches after the St. Marys match inside the Hornets Nest, with all matches starting at 5:30.
