Each year, over the Fourth of July holiday, the Paden City Alumni Association puts on a series of events for the school’s alumni.

Parties are arranged for the classes who graduated in the past 50 years or more with emphasis put on five and ten-year graduates.

One of the ongoing events has been the alumni volleyball game, and the alumni basketball game.

This year the volleyball game was a little short-handed, but participants were still able to put on a match game.

The basketball game drew some of the better ball players from the past few years with a few older guys thrown in.

It was a good game with a surprise outcome as the seemingly-underdog team pulled out a nice win.

Aaron Heasley, a graduate from the 2017 class, lit up the scoreboard to help his team get the win.

Somewhere along the way, Michael King managed to keep his shooting touch as his team got out to a quick start.

He buried a few three-point shots, and Luke Cooper and Kennedy Cain controlled the boards and scored often.

It was a fun game with each team calling their own fouls and not many disagreements.

However, all participants played very competitively and with great energy.

This reporter kept watching to see if there would be any slams dunks, but it looked more like a run and gun game.

Most of the players seemed to still be in good shape, and if time would have allowed, they might have played a get-even game.

For those who don’t know, Paden City gym can be a very hot place to play.

Luckily, temperatures had cooled down some for Friday night.

Player Steve Logston, from the class of 1993, reportedly came all the way from Missouri just to play in the It was good to see him and all the rest of the athletes.

Hopefully all players enjoyed playing as much as the spectators enjoyed watching.
